Commonwealth Assembly

Visitors to the school hall today were astounded to see that her Majesty the Queen was in attendance to celebrate Room 1's Commonwealth Games-themed assembly.

The celebration of the games saw students involved in a wide range of sports and teachers were awarded medals. Her Majesty the Queen addressed the whole school and was very excited at being able to open and close the assembly ceremony.

Other guests included some of New Zealand's top athletes. Valerie Adams, gold medalist in the women's shotput for the last 200 years, was clearly excited at the prospect of participating in the celebrations.

Hope flexing her muscles as only Valerie Adams could

The Queen stayed behind after the event and had the opportunity to meet the Room 1 students.

In what is becoming a new tradition in the Royal household, the Queen was spotted photo-bombing a Room 1 class photo at the end of the morning. Thank you your Majesty and congratulations to everyone in Room 1 for a very entertaining morning.
