Maths in Action
At the moment we are learning a lot in maths - fractions, ratios and capacity (the measurement of liquids). As always the key is to be able to see how to use this learning in everyday life.
Today Mr Day set us two challenges. Firstly, could we estimate the quantity of water in a range of different bottles using our knowledge of fractions and capacity ? Could we then accurately measure the quantity using a measuring jug. How close were we ?
Secondly, we were given a series of different coloured objects and had to work out the ratios of each colour. For example - how many yellow counters are there to red counters (yellow:red)
